Pandemic has a lead lot of things scattered in our country but looking at global situations we are at safe zone now. Touchwood! Because now we are zero COVID-19 cases, hence objective of our PM Jacinda Ardern is to rebrand our country as a safe haven in Covid-19 and start strengthening our economy.

We Kiwis emerge from the strictest lockdowns in the world, our government says its strategy of eliminating Covid-19 early. It is a hard return to some semblance of normality.

To hammer home the advantage, the finance minister has announced fiscal stimulus worth more than 20% of gross domestic product, predicting that will jump-start growth and get the jobless rate back to its pre-virus level of 4.2% within two years.

One thing which we strongly believe and should imbibe is think “local and go local” this will make our GDP secure and generate employment level of the country.

There is a famous example of patriotism, were in a school there were two kids, one from British and one was Japanese both were busy writing with a pencil. The British kid had a pencil which was comfortable to hold and was dark, but that was not a case with a Japanese kid pencil.

When British kid asked him “why are you still using this pencil when its output is not productive the kid reply will melt your heart he said if I do not use my country pencil then who else will use it. Hence this is a pure reflection of affection towards your country and its products.

Despite New Zealanders being hard by a hit loss of income, social isolation, and radical changes in sport and recreation, the country has come together, political leaders have also united. Hence this also represents the positive emotion towards the land.

The more you protect Kiwis business health, and prefer in-country production instead of importing, the larger will be the cost to the economy.

Establishing localised industries will not give immediate solutions, but we need to focus on our objectives should support SMSE inside the country. Leading their motivation and continuous improvement will lead to the best results.

There are various opportunities and strength of our country, which makes it durable and why kiwi business can rely on them to act local and create a strong economy.

1.Strong independence and institutions

New-Zealand is a great place to live, and our economy and political affairs are having stability. Being a very small and open economy, we can be ahead to create opportunity and prosperity of our country’s people.

Our country has a flexible economy with independent policy making and sound fiscal policy.

2.Nature resources as assets

We have abundant scared and natural resources which other countries lack, such as land, water and perfect climatic conditions.

Sustainable aquaculture and fishing also play an essential part in their management regime.

3.Flexible policies

Agile policies act as a significant beneficial element for start-up businesses. Independent central bank system and with floating exchange rate act as survivors during any crisis.

Mobile labours with global experience are readily available here.

Other few opportunities here are geographical conditions, convergence and large open spaces which can cater to many new businesses and even increasing population.

We have fiscal headroom to move forward quickly and powerfully, our trade negotiation team may be competent in the world, given the quantity and quality of its FTAs. The holistic point of developing this basket of deals is to protect New Zealand against virus or other calamities.

New Zealand lacks its productivity in case of new inventions and innovations. New creative inventions and ideas come from tinkering with existing machines. People won’t earn the necessary experience to invent a new tool if they never get to work with tools in the first place.

Let’s give an opportunity to local business which can surely make their way to victory and then dependency on another country will be reduced; it is a long term asset for Kiwis.

There is no reason to move backwards on globalisation but the coronavirus offer opportunity for the New Zealand government to push its trade strategy with Kiwi businesses.

The focus should be on: Protect jobs and businesses

  • The RBNZ should lower interest rates to try and stimulate the country economy.
  • The RBNZ should open up and promote funding facilities for banks
  • Support specifically businesses which were reliant on China by reducing their cash flow crunch. Banks should extend lines of credit to firms.
  • Government support, through unemployment benefits with no stand down space for their staff for a fixed period, this will buy time while businesses deal the fallout from the Covid-19.
  • Constant deployment of the offshore network will generate real-time market intelligence that can be quickly relayed to New Zealand firms.
  • Should come up with new policies and scheme which will motivate me to start new businesses.
  • Invest in money to restore air connectivity, tourism flows and trade as quickly as possible.

Branding, Packaging and Digital marketing

When we plan to think local and go local instead of global, we also need to treasure our country’s value propositions. Such as Kiwi businesses treat their work as holy hence they are known for their honesty, sincerity and promising.

People all over the work have positioned New-Zealand products such as being 100% pure and optimum pricing as per the quality offered.

Make sure your local companies don’t forget the essential part which will help to give your reflection towards the world that is Branding, Packaging and Digital marketing.

Brand logo, packaging designs, brochure designs, business cards, presentations, signage’s, social media activities should be consistent with the essential elements of New-Zealand. Such as Maori Culture, Silver Ferns, 100% pure, mention NZ made, nature and environment-related characters.

Overall the emotion, brand story and feel of the product should be a representation of our country as we are positioned for being “Authentic and real” we should justify that by offering productive branding activities.

Conclusion:

When we look at the national emergency, we should not panic; instead, we should discover how well, or poorly, a country is governed and plan what best we can do to boost our economy. Encouraging SMSE to start local, reduced and then eliminate imports as together with unity, we can make our country more resilient and independent. Even New Zealand’s success so far in working towards eliminating COVID-19 isn’t due just to leadership from the top. It’s been a collective success, involving most “ordinary” Kiwis and unity across political divides.
